What actually changes the purchase
Depth does not scale directly with diameter. A large coil may improve response on larger deep targets, but small targets, mineralized ground and nearby iron can erase the gain. Minelab itself warns that larger coils can lose small-target sensitivity and suffer more ground effects.
Weight at the coil is mechanically expensive. XP lists its 13×11 FMF at 570 g. Because that mass sits far from the hand, the fatigue increase can feel larger than the scale difference suggests.
Model names that look related can still be incompatible. Manticore uses M coils; Equinox uses EQX; Vanquish uses V; X-Terra Elite/Pro can use V-X and specified EQX coils. Verify the exact detector generation and connector.
